Dr Carl Brookes 

Having graduated from Oxford University and St Thomas' Hospital in London, Carl Brookes continued his postgraduate training at the Hammersmith Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital.

He became a Consultant Cardiologist and Physician at the North Hampshire Hospital in 2000. He consults at The Chelsea Outpatient Centre and the BUPA Cromwell Hospital.

He sees patients with all forms of heart disease and practices as a General Physician.  He has developed a special interest in interventional cardiology, implantation of pacemakers and runs a specialist heart failure service. He sees patients referred locally as well as from all over the UK and abroad.

Dr Andrew Bishop 

Andrew Bishop has been a Consultant Cardiologist and Physician at The North Hampshire Hospital since 1999.

He trained at Cambridge and St Thomas' Hospital, completing post graduate training at The Royal Brompton Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital.

He sees patients with all forms of heart disease and also practices as a general physician; he has an active angiography and angioplasty practice.

He runs a specialist service for patients with hypertension (high blood pressure).

In addition to patients from the North Hampshire area, he sees patients from elsewhere in the UK and abroad by referral, who have complex cardiac problems often involving other medical conditions.

In addition to clinical practice he lectures widely on heart disease and its management.

Andrew Bishop

Mr Anthony de Souza 

Tony de Souza has been a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at the Royal Brompton Hospital since 1998.  He has a busy practice in all aspects of cardiac surgery.  His major interest lies in innovative techniques for minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and successfully performed the first robotic endoscopic CABG in UK. He lectures and mentors internationally on techniques of minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

Mr de Souza served on the Advisory Panel for Interventional Procedures for National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE, www.nice.org.uk) and was a Director of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (ISMICS). He is now Clinical Director of Surgery in the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Ms Diane Penny 

Diane Penny has worked for the NHS for 21 years and brings a wealth of experience to her current role as Principal Cardiac Physiologist and Head of the Heart and Lung Function Dept at Basingstoke & North Hants NHS Foundation Trust.

The department carries out all cardiac physiological investigations on behalf of the Cardiologists. Its remit and services are continually expanding and consists of a team of highly specialised and motivated Cardiac Physiologists who work to provide a first class service to our patients.
